Today’s Blair Witch Experience. Took Maisy and the kids on a hike in Kings Wood, near Challock today. Nearly 1,000 acres of woodland, half a million trees and a richness of smells beyond Maisy’s wildest dreams. A local art company has created “sculptures” throughout the woods, most of which bear an unnerving resemblance to those in the Blair Witch Project. The illusion was complete when, having walked for miles, we suddenly arrived at a point that seemed strangely familiar. The sculpture in the picture confirmed we were indeed in the same place that we’d visited much earlier. What was really weird was that although we thought we’d arrived from a different direction, everything was in the same orientation as the first visit. Spooky! The light was failing, so we beat a dignified retreat before we found a derelict cottage… Photo: mings
